BuildBetter’s Chrome extension allows you to record browser-based meetings directly from Google Chrome, providing quick access to BuildBetter without switching tabs.

What is the Chrome Extension?

The BuildBetter Chrome extension provides:
  • Browser recording: Join and record Google Meet and other web-based meetings
  • Quick access: Access BuildBetter features from your browser
  • Content capture: Save web content for analysis
  • Seamless sync: Recordings appear in your BuildBetter workspace

Installation

Install from Chrome Web Store

Access Chrome Web Store

Visit the BuildBetter Chrome Extension page Or search for “BuildBetter” in the Chrome Web Store

Add to Chrome

Click “Add to Chrome” Click “Add Extension” in the confirmation dialog

Sign In

Click the BuildBetter icon in your browser toolbar Sign in with your BuildBetter account

Grant Permissions

Allow necessary permissions for recording Configure extension settings
You need a BuildBetter account to use the Chrome extension. Sign up at buildbetter.ai if you haven’t already.

Using the Extension

Recording Browser Meetings

  1. Join a meeting in Google Meet or other web platform
  2. Click the BuildBetter extension icon in your toolbar
  3. Start recording from the extension popup
  4. Recording continues until you stop or meeting ends

What Gets Recorded

  • Audio/Video: Full meeting recording
  • Transcript: Real-time transcription
  • Meeting URL: Link to the meeting
  • Timestamp: Date and time
  • Browser tab title: Used as recording name

After Recording

Once recording completes:
  1. Recording uploads to BuildBetter
  2. AI processes and generates summary
  3. Signals extracted from conversation
  4. Available in your BuildBetter workspace
  5. Notification sent (if enabled)

Access extension settings by:
  • Click extension icon
  • Click settings/gear icon
  • Configure recording preferences
  • Manage permissions

Beta Limitations

As a beta product, the Chrome extension:
  • May have occasional bugs or issues
  • Features are actively being developed
  • User interface may change
  • Not all BuildBetter features available yet

Required Permissions

  • Tab access: To detect and record meetings
  • Microphone: To capture audio
  • Storage: To save settings
  • Network: To sync with BuildBetter

Data Handling

  • Recordings sync directly to your BuildBetter workspace
  • No data stored locally in the extension
  • Same privacy settings as BuildBetter web app
  • Complies with BuildBetter’s privacy policy
Grant permissions carefully and only install the extension from the official Chrome Web Store link.

Troubleshooting

  • Verify extension is installed and enabled
  • Check you’re signed into BuildBetter
  • Try restarting Chrome
  • Ensure extension has required permissions
  • Verify microphone permissions granted
  • Check you’re in a supported meeting platform
  • Try clicking “Record” again
  • Refresh the meeting page
  • Check microphone settings in Chrome
  • Ensure stable internet connection
  • Close unnecessary browser tabs
  • Verify meeting audio is working
